What is World Childless Week?
World Childless Week is a new initiative to raise awareness about the millions of people around the world who are childless-not-by-choice. We will never forget the children we dreamt of and our hearts may never heal. So it is important we get the support we need to help us not to feel so isolated, marginalised and voiceless. It is also important that the wider community begins to really understand the long-term impact of being childless-not-by-choice. The more awareness there is the more understanding about our situation and our feelings there will be. In order to raise awareness about the forthcoming World Childless Week I have launched two Thunderclap Campaigns.
What is a Thunderclap Campaign?
Social media is an easy way to say something, but it’s a difficult way to be heard. Thunderclap is the first-ever crowdspeaking* platform that helps people be heard by saying something together. It allows a single message to be mass-shared, flash mob-style, so it rises above the noise of your social networks. Rather than supporters having to remember to post their message at a certain time on a certain date (to create the “thunderclap”) the campaign does that for you. All you have to do is agree to support the campaign via Facebook, Twitter and/or Tumblr and Thunderclap will do the rest for you. When you have pledged your support Thunderclap will post a one-off message on your social media accounts. They will not message your friends and/or followers directly.
*Crowdspeaking is a way of coordinating social media support together for one campaign in order to amplify a message on social networks. Crowdspeaking campaigns are used to raise awareness for a cause, a project, an event or a product.
How do I support World Childless Week?
Firstly pledge your support for BOTH of the Thunderclap Campaigns. The first campaign is to raise awareness about the forthcoming event whilst the second event reminds people that World Childless Week starts the next day. Click on the individual images to access the Campaign pages.
When you visit Thunderclap you will be asked to sign in using Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr. You will then be asked how you want to support the campaign: see the image below.
It you select more than one of the options you will still only be counted as one supporter: however, if you sign-out of Thunderclap and log back in using a different social media platform you will register as two supporters. So if you can please sign in with Facebook and support with Facebook and then sign back in with Twitter or Tumblr to support with those platforms.
The World Childless Week Campaign Links
Please click on the images to follow the links the and support the campaigns. Once you have supported please share the links to encourage other people to support them too. If we don’t reach the target of 100 supporters for each campaign NOTHING happens. NO Facebook messages are posted. NO Tweets are sent out. NO posts on Tumblr. So reaching 100 supporters is very important to help us raise awareness.
I’m going to be publishing a post early next week sharing more about World Childless Week is, why is it so important, what is happening during the week and why it has my full backing. In the meantime please follow the campaign links to read the information share there. You can also visit (like and share) the World Childless Week Facebook Page.
